Just over three years ago, January marked a significant milestone in my life – my second open-heart surgery. Remarkably, this time around, I was in excellent health and fitness. The surgery aimed to replace the now impaired bovine aortic valve, which had been hastily implanted during emergency surgery a decade ago. The replacement valve is a mechanical one, and while they claim it can last a lifetime, I'm hopeful that it will offer me at least 20 years or more before requiring another intervention. Every morning, as I wake up, and every night, as I drift into sleep, the subtle ticking of my heart serves as a comforting reminder of this second chance at life.

Gratitude fills my heart as I reflect on the immense support and expertise that made it possible for me to continue being myself – a loving wife, a special daughter, and a mother to two beautiful boys. Life, with all its challenges, is undeniably sweet, and I cherish every moment.
