Recovery Beyond the Scar: A New Chapter, A New Community, A Journey to Finding Freedom

Something very special has been taking shape behind the scenes, and I am so excited to finally share it with you.

Over the past few months, I've been pouring my time, energy, professional knowledge and personal experiences into creating something that means an enormous amount to me.

Something that brings together my years of working as a physiotherapist, my own experiences of major surgery and recovery, and my passion for helping people rediscover themselves.

That something is the Recovery Beyond the Scar Collective.

And although the Collective is only just beginning, the journey that has brought me here has been many years in the making.

Why Recovery Beyond the Scar?

Having experienced open-heart surgeries, spinal fusion, knee surgeries and the many challenges that accompany recovery, I know that healing isn't simply about getting physically better.

There is so much more to it.

It's about the exhaustion that nobody quite prepares you for.

The frustration when your body doesn't respond the way you expect.

The changes to your confidence, independence and identity.

And sometimes, the feeling that somewhere along the way, you've lost a little of who you used to be.

But here's what I've learnt, both personally and professionally:

Recovery isn't necessarily about getting back to who you were. Sometimes it's about discovering who you are now and recognising the incredible possibilities still ahead of you.

I have never wanted my surgeries or physical limitations to define me.

Instead, I've learnt to understand my body, respect my capacity, make choices that support my wellbeing and continue living a life filled with things that matter to me.

Family, adventure, movement, connection, learning and freedom.

And I want to help other women discover that for themselves.

The Work Behind the Collective

Creating Recovery Beyond the Scar has been an incredible journey in itself.

There have been countless hours of planning, researching, recording, writing, reflecting and developing resources.

I've been bringing together everything I've learnt through my clinical work in physiotherapy, movement rehabilitation, Pilates, yoga, breathwork and pain management, alongside the lessons from my own recovery experiences.

I've been developing workshops, practical tools, educational resources and opportunities for women to connect and support one another.

There have been plenty of moments of excitement, a few technical challenges and lots of learning along the way!

But throughout it all, one thing has remained clear.

I want to create a space where women feel heard, understood, supported and empowered to move forward.

Not somewhere that tells you what you should be able to do.

But somewhere that helps you discover what is possible for you.

Reconnecting With Your Identity

One of the biggest things I've come to recognise is how much a significant health diagnosis or major surgery can influence our sense of identity.

Perhaps you were always the energetic one.

The person who looked after everyone else.

The one who loved being active, independent and constantly on the go.

Then suddenly, life changes.

Your energy is different. Your physical capacity may have changed. Your priorities might shift.

And you can find yourself wondering:

Who am I now?

Will I ever feel like myself again?

How do I move forward when things are different?

These are some of the conversations I want us to explore within the Collective.

Because you are so much more than your diagnosis, your surgery or your scars.

Your experiences may have changed aspects of your life, but they haven't taken away your ability to grow, connect, discover and find joy.

Your identity is not something you have to leave behind. It is something you can continue to explore, shape and celebrate.

Together We Discover Limitations and Find Freedom

This is the philosophy at the heart of Free-Your-Time and Recovery Beyond the Scar.

I don't believe freedom necessarily means having no limitations.

Sometimes freedom comes from understanding those limitations, recognising what we can influence and choosing how we want to live within our own capacity.

It's about learning when to move and when to rest.

When to challenge ourselves and when to give ourselves permission to slow down.

It's about celebrating progress, even when that progress looks different from what we originally imagined.

And importantly, it's about recognising that our worth is not measured by how much we can do.

There is so much freedom in understanding ourselves.

MOVE Method Workshop Is Coming!

As part of this exciting new chapter, I'm also preparing my FREE MOVE Method workshop.

This workshop is designed for women navigating life after major surgery or a significant health diagnosis who want practical ways to begin moving forward with greater confidence.

We'll explore how to reconnect with movement, understand energy and pacing, and start building sustainable habits that support everyday life.

My aim is for you to leave with ideas and tools you can begin using straight away, wherever you are on your recovery journey.

You don't have to be at a particular stage of recovery to begin learning more about yourself.

And you certainly don't have to have everything figured out.

More Than Just a Membership

My vision for the Recovery Beyond the Scar Collective goes far beyond providing educational resources.

I want it to become a genuine community.

A place where women can share experiences, ask questions, learn from one another and feel connected.

A place where we can celebrate the small wins as well as the big milestones.

Where we can acknowledge the difficult days without allowing them to overshadow everything else.

And where we can begin to look towards the future with curiosity, confidence and excitement.

Because while our recovery journeys may be different, there is so much we can learn from one another.

This Is Just the Beginning

I feel incredibly excited about what lies ahead.

Not because I believe I have all the answers, but because I know how powerful it can be when professional knowledge, lived experience and genuine human connection come together.

I'm looking forward to sharing more through my workshops, podcasts, newsletters and, of course, the Collective itself.

And most importantly, I'm looking forward to supporting women as they rediscover their confidence, reconnect with their identity and begin creating a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling to them.

If you've been through a major surgery or health diagnosis and you're wondering what comes next, I want you to know that your story is still unfolding.

There are still experiences to enjoy, challenges to choose, connections to make and opportunities to explore.

Recovery is not the end of your story. It can be the beginning of discovering a whole new chapter.

And I would love to be part of that journey with you.

With warmth and excitement,

Becky
